Moniker Art Fair & Niels ‘Shoe’ Meulman Wall; Day 1

Slipped into Village Underground to see how the preparations for the Moniker Art Fair 2012 were developing and to see ‘Shoe‘ AKA Niels Meulman, creator of ‘Calligraffiti‘ and pioneer of the Euro graff scene. I watched as he put his distinctive letter-form on the wall of Village Underground surrounded by paint splatters and buckets of chrome paint rapidly being diluted by the London rain…

Inside an army of workmen worked diligently to bring together the installation based theme of this years Moniker Art Fair

With only 3 days to go to opening this vast room was awash with crates, scenery, wrapped artwork and a scent of great things to come…

Back outside I found Remi/Rough, Steve More & Shoe engrossed in a little impromptu book signing, I refrained from asking him to do the back of my jacket but now on reflection I think the leg of my trousers would look good with that font down the front of it…

Across the road I spotted the handiwork of Ludo, yet another contributing artist to Moniker 2012, so I steadied my camera to take in the splendour of the still wet & glistening dragonfly paste up which had been out all night in the London rain.

I love seeing an artist in ‘painting’ clothes that have clearly been worn for a while.
